The board continues to work hard to achieve results on behalf of AIMVIA and its members. The association has seen increased positive profile and activity during August.
The association is pleased to advise that 20 members of JUMVEA (Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association) have confirmed a meeting with AIMVIA board members in Sydney on Monday October 12th. The board wishes to extend an invitation to any AIMVIA member to attend the meeting with the JUMVEA delegation.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for AIMVIA to provide an update to the delegation of the current market conditions in Australia and work on possible changes to government regulations impacting the used vehicle market. JUMVEA will also provide an update on current market conditions in Japan and an overview of the JUMVEA membership. The meeting will be followed by a light lunch. In August the association engaged the services of a Canberra based professional lobbying and consulting firm. The purpose of the engagement is to provide the association advice and direction specifically for high level interaction with Federal and Senate government, opposition, and regulator officials.
The initial results of this work has resulted in members of the board attending a round of meetings with senior officials in early September. A further group of meetings with officials is planned for late September.
The association is also targeting meetings with various like-minded associations and companies supportive of the association’s position for the importation of used motors vehicles.
Extending the current membership and funding of the association is a topic discussed at each board meeting. The board continues to explore further initiatives to increase the membership base and sponsors for the association. The board welcome any suggestions from members to assist in growing the association.
